Auditor's Service Center at Mall again able to process transactions through drop box
The St. Louis County Auditor's Service Center at the Miller Hill Mall is again able to process transactions using a secure drop box outside its door. The Service Center was closed last week in compliance with the Governor's executive order. However new guidance from the state is allowing deputy registrars to offer motor vehicle title and registration services, as long as it does not involve face to face contact.
The Service Center is able to provide license tabs, DNR renewals, motor vehicle titles, and disability certificates. The center also can process property tax payments. For any of these transactions, people should leave the necessary paperwork and payment by check (made payable to St. Louis County Audior) in the secure drop box. Staff will process the transaction and send items by mail within five business days.
Drivers license renewals and passport applications and renewals cannot be processed at this time. Regarding drivers licenses and state-issued identification cards, the State of Minnesota has approved an extension for any valid driver's license, instruction permit, provisional license, operator's permit, limited license, and farm work license that would expire during the peacetime emergency. The expiration dates for these licenses will be extended for two months after the month the peacetime emergency ends.
