Incident Summary: On February 14th, 2020 at approximately 10:45 P.M. Saint Louis County Sheriff's deputies responded to a snowmobile crash that occurred near Hwy 53 and Forest Road 614, approximately 15 miles north of Orr, Mn. Howard HEDIN and Victoria SPANDL were operating snowmobiles in a group of 8 traveling northbound in the ditch of Hwy 53 when they both went over an approximately 30 foot rock cliff and landed at the bottom of a ravine. First responders used a combination of rescue toboggans, ropes, and an ATV winch to rescue the two. HEDIN and SPANDL were transported by Orr Ambulance to the Essentia health-St. Mary's hospital in Duluth with non-life threatening injuries.
