Incident Summary:On January 18th, 2020 at approximately 7:37 P.M. Saint Louis County Sheriff's deputies responded to a snowmobile vs vehicle crash that occurred on the Angus road in Vermilion Lake Township. Larry KRMPOTICH was the operator of an Artic Cat snowmobile in a group of five snowmobiles that had just exited the Iron Ore Snowmobile trail on to the Angus road in an attempt to cross over a bridge on the Angus road to get back to the snowmobile trail which was located on the other side of the bridge. KRMPOTICH was traveling Westbound on the Angus road and a Chevrolet Equinox which was driven by Michael SCHULTZ was traveling Eastbound when they collided in the Eastbound lane. KRMPOTICH was transported by the Tower Ambulance to the Essentia Health-Virginia Hospital and then later transported to a Duluth area Hospital with serious injuries. SCHULTZ was not injured. The crash remains under investigation by the Saint Louis County Sheriff's Office.
