Public meeting planned to discuss 2020 Rice Lake Road project

St. Louis County Public Works and the City of Duluth will hold a public meeting to discuss next year's project to reconstruct Rice Lake Road from Arrowhead Road to north of Technology Drive. The meeting will be Thursday, October 17, at 6 p.m. at the Public Safety Building, 2030 Arlington Avenue in Duluth. County and City engineers will present information and answer questions about the scope and design of the project, construction impacts, and the expected schedule.

The County's portion of the project will include a complete reconstruction of Rice Lake Road from Arrowhead Road to 1,000 feet north of Technology Drive, plus new traffic signals, curbs, gutters, and sidewalks. The road will be widened to accommodate additional lanes and a raised median. Additionally, Arlington Avenue has been widened at the intersection with Rice Lake and Arrowhead Roads to accommodate the changes on Rice Lake Road.

The City's portion of the project will include widening Technology Drive and extending the sidewalk on the north side of Technology Drive, plus adding a sidewalk on the north side of Arrowhead Road where it overlaps with Rice Lake Road.
