Public meeting set to discuss County Road 715 near Biwabik
It's been four years since a portion of County Road 715, also known as Pike River Drive or Whiskey Road, had to close northwest of Biwabik to allow for mining activity. St. Louis County Public Works has since conducted a detailed analysis, looking at possible alternate routes for the 75-100 people who typically used the road on any given day.
A public meeting will be held Wednesday, October 2, at 5 p.m. at Pike Town Hall, 6862 County Highway 68 to discuss the results of that analysis and to hear feedback on the options being considered. Public Works staff and Commissioner Paul McDonald will be available to answer questions and discuss any concerns.
Among the options being considered would be reconnecting County Road 715, or realligning CSAH 138 or County Road 416. The analysis considered factors such as cost, travel time and environmental impacts.
Anyone interested in learning more who is not able to attend the meeting should contact St. Louis County Public Works Engineer Eric Fallstrom at 218-742-9821 or fallstrom2@stlouiscountymn.gov.
