Incident Summary:

On 08/03/2019, at approximately 8:25 P.M. the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office, St. Louis County Rescue Squad, and the Voyageur National Park Service were dispatched to a lost person near Kettle Falls on Namakan Lake.  This area is only accessible by boat within the Voyageur National Park.  A 64 year old female called into St. Louis County dispatch advising that she had left the Kettle Falls Hotel on foot around 3:00 P.M. following a snowmobile trail, when she became lost.  St. Louis County dispatch obtained cellphone GPS coordinates that put her in the vicinity of the Portage Trail between Namakan Lake and Rainy Lake and near the Voyageur snowmobile trail.  The Voyageur National Park service was able to reach the area by boat and eventually made contact with the female on foot on the trail system around 11:00 P.M..  The female was uninjured and was escorted back to the Kettle Falls Hotel.
