Incident Summary:

On 05/18/19, at approximately 1740 hours, St. Louis County Deputies responded to a report of a house fire at 4518 Martin Road in the City of Rice Lake.  Passerby's noted smoke coming from the residence and attempted to determine if anyone was in the residence.  It was later determined the home was unoccupied at the time of the fire.  The Rice Lake Fire Department quickly knocked the fire down, which was mainly contained in the kitchen area of the home.  In addition to Rice Lake Fire, the following area fire departments also responded; Lakewood Fire, Canosia Fire, Grand Lake Fire, and the Air National Guard Fire Department. 

The home suffered extensive damage to the kitchen area along with extensive smoke damage.  The Red Cross arrived on scene to provide assistance to the renters of the home.

The incident remains under investigation by the State Fire Marshal's Office and the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office.
