Detours begin tomorrow on Comstock Lake Road (CSAH 52) east of Cotton for reconstruction of two bridges

The reconstruction of two bridges and approximately one mile of Comstock Lake Road (County State Aid Highway 52) east of Cotton will mean detours beginning this Saturday, May 18. Comstock Lake Road will be closed between County Roads 224 and 524, approximately six miles east of Cotton. Detour signs will be posted, directing traffic to use Three Lakes Road (County State Aid Highway 49) and Munger Shaw Road (CSAH 15) instead.

St. Louis County Public Works is replacing the bridges that cross Picnic Creek and Whiteface River. Both bridges were built in 1977 out of timber and steel, and have reached the end of their serviceable life. The bridge over Picnic Creek will be replaced with a concrete box culvert, while the new bridge over the Whiteface River will be a single span concrete beam bridge.

The $2.5 million project is expected to be completed and roads reopened by late October. KGM Contractors from Angora is the contractor for the project.
