Incident Summary:

On April 27th, 2019 at approximately 12:51 A.M., St. Louis County Sheriff Deputies were dispatched to a report of an ATV accident with injuries in the 6400 Blk of County Rd. 180 in Camp Five Township, Northeast of Orr, MN.

The lone occupant of the ATV was traveling North on County Rd. 180 at a high rate of speed and lost control of the machine, rolling several times and coming to rest in the ditch. The driver, who was identified as Steven Wendroth, was thrown from the machine. He was transported by Orr Ambulance and later by North Memorial Air Medical to a Duluth area hospital where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Sheriff's Office, but it is believed that speed and alcohol may have played a factor.
