Incident Summary:

On April 14, 2019, the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office was dispatched to two residential burglaries that had occurred in Sandy Township and Pike Township.  Both burglaries had occurred on Highway 68 within 2.5 miles of each other.  Stolen property in those burglaries was valued at over $30,000 and including numerous expensive tools and equipment.  A shotgun was also stolen in one of the burglaries.  The Deputy who took those reports conducted a search of the area and located a 3rd residential burglary that was unreported to law enforcement.  After word of the burglaries spread in the community, the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office received a possible vehicle description of a suspicious vehicle that was in the area at the time of the burglaries.

On April 15, 2019, a St. Louis County Sheriff's Deputy located a vehicle that matched the description of the vehicle that was seen in the area of the burglaries the previous day.  Stolen property from one of the burglaries was located in this vehicle.  At approximately 1330 hours, St. Louis County Sheriff's Investigators and Deputies executed a search warrant at a residence in the 7800 block of Wuori Road in Wuori Township.  Investigators and Deputies recovered a large portion of the property stolen over the weekend.  Additionally, stolen property was recovered from another previously reported theft.

Joseph Dean Potter, 35, was arrested during the execution of the search warrant and faces multiple charges including but not limited to: 1st and 2nd Degree Burglary, Felony Theft, and Felon in Possession of a Firearm.

This Investigation is ongoing.  The St. Louis County Sheriff's Office would like to ask the public to call 911 if they notice anything suspicious in their neighborhoods or call (218) 749-7134 if they have information related to this investigation.
