Incident Summary: On Feb 13, 2019 the LSDVCTF conducted a joint investigation with the Payson Police Dept and Gila County Narcotics Task Force of Arizona. Members of the LSDVCTF were conducting an investigation into Brad Smith and Kathy Anderson of Eveleth, MN for methamphetamine sales. The LSDVCTF learned Smith and Anderson would travel to Arizona, pick up a large quantity of methamphetamine and return to Eveleth, Minnesota. Investigator Katie Kral verified the information and confirmed Smith and Anderson were in Arizona. Kral contacted narcotics investigators in Arizona after verifying Smith and Anderson's location. Payson PD and Gila County Narcotics apprehended Smith and Anderson at a local motel and seized 4.4 pounds of methamphetamine/currency located in their vehicle ready for transport. Smith and Anderson were both arraigned in Gila County Court for charges relating to the transportation of dangerous drugs. On Feb 14, 2019 members of the LSDVCTF executed a search warrant at Anderson's address in Eveleth, MN and recovered 2 firearms, mushrooms and additional methamphetamine. This is a great example of 2 drug task forces, on opposite ends of our country, working together, to apprehend these individuals and take a large quantity of methamphetamine off the street!!
