Incident Summary:
On February 10th, 2019 at approximately 4:38 P.M. St. Louis County 911 operators received a report of a house fire located at 9578 Zim Rd. which is Southeast of the City of Hibbing.
Several area fire departments (Cherry Twp, Clinton Twp, Central Lakes Twp, Toivola Twp, McDavitt Twp Fire Departments) responded and found the house was showing flames from the east side of the residence, and quickly consumed the rest of the A framed styled house.
The lone occupant of the residence at the time escaped the house without injury and was able to flag down a passerby who called 911.
Information from the occupant of the house is that the fire started in the basement of the house, likely from a space heater which was being used to warm the water lines. The Minnesota State Fire Marshal has been contacted to assist the Sheriff's Office with the investigation.
It is believed the house is a total loss.
