St. Louis County Board approves Comprehensive Land Use Plan
St. Louis County has a new Comprehensive Land Use Plan. The County Board unanimously approved the plan at its meeting Tuesday in Virginia. The vote comes after more than two years of work by the County's Planning and Community Development Department with the assistance of SRF Consulting Group, Inc.
The comprehensive land use plan covers all areas of county zoning jurisdiction. Previously, the county had been operating within the guidelines of 27 individual land use plans, many of which were developed back in the 1970s. This new plan will provide the blueprint for land use development, including public investment, infrastructure improvements and intergovernmental cooperation through 2035. It does not include cities, towns with their own zoning, and state and federal lands.
The plan was developed with substantial participation from residents, local government officials and a broad range of other stakeholders. Significant effort was made to collect public input. This included 24 public meetings, eight workshops and 16 focus groups held throughout the county.
