Incident Summary:
On October 7, 2018, at approximately 1059 hours, St. Louis County Sheriff's Deputies, Cook Ambulance and Cook First Responders, were dispatched to a single vehicle crash with injuries on 10300 Buboltz Road.
When Cook First Responders arrived, they located a single vehicle had left the roadway and crashed head on into a tree. The lone male occupant was trapped inside of the vehicle with severe injuries. After deputies and medical personnel arrived, the male was pronounced dead at the scene.
It appears the male was traveling West on Buboltz Road. The male failed to negotiate a sharp left turn on the dirt road, and went into the ditch on the north side of the road at a high rate of speed, striking a tree head on, causing extensive damage to the vehicle and killing the driver.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office, but alcohol and speed appear to be significant contributing factors. It is unknown what the road conditions were at the time of the crash as the vehicle appeared to have been in the ditch for several hours prior to being located.
The victim's name is being withheld pending notification of family members.
