Tattoos on the Heart is theme of 36th annual Health & Human Service Conference
Father Gregory Boyle, the founder of Homeboy Industries, the largest gang intervention, rehab and re-entry program in the country, will be the keynote speaker kicking off this year's St. Louis County Health and Human Services Conference at the DECC. The 36th annual conference runs October 11-12. Father Boyle's speech will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m., in the DECC's Symphony Hall. The opening ceremony also includes a musical welcome from local singer, dancer and writer Solomon Witherspoon.

This year's conference is expected to draw 3,000 participants from the public and private sector. The two-day event includes 125 workshops and institutes, plus more than 150 exhibits.
The online preregistration deadline is Friday, Oct. 5. Walk-in registration is available on both days of the conference beginning at 7:30 a.m. Cash or check will be accepted.
