Incident Summary: On Thursday, September 27th the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office, French Twp first responders, Chisholm Ambulance, and Hibbing Ambulance personnel were dispatched to a one vehicle crash with injuries on the 12000 Blk of East Rd. in Side Lake, MN.
Upon arrival, first responders found the male driver suffering from several injures from the crash, after the vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree. It is believed that the driver lost control of the vehicle when they swerved to miss a deer in the roadway. The female passenger was transported to Fairview University Medical Center-Mesabi in Hibbing for her injuries, where she later died.
The cause of death is under investigation by the Medical Examiner to determine whether or not the death was attributed to the crash, or to other non related medical issues.
The crash remains under investigation by the Sheriff's Office.
The identity of the victims are being withheld pending family notification.

The identities of the driver/passenger involved in this accident are attached. The passenger, Ros-Linda Rowe Runde's, death was caused by multiple blunt force injuries resulting from this accident according to a preliminary report from the Midwest Medical Examiner's Office. The relationship between the Runde's is Mother/Son.
