Portrait of Judge Donovan Frank to be unveiled in Virginia
Federal Judge Donovan Frank - who also served as an Assistant St. Louis County Attorney and District Court Judge in Virginia - is being honored with a portrait that will hang at the St. Louis County Courthouse in Virginia. The portrait will be unveiled Friday, September 28, at 11 a.m. The public is invited to attend. The event is hosted by the Range Bar Association, the Office of Commissioner Keith Nelson and Sixth Judicial District Court Administration.
The Range Bar Association commissioned local artist Spencer Hahne to paint the portrait of Judge Frank. Hahne is a portrait and landscape artist from Virginia.
Frank served as an Assistant St. Louis County Attorney from 1977 to 1985. He was appointed to the state district court bench in 1985, and served as the Chief Judge from 1991 to 1996. In 1996, the Minnesota Conference of Chief Judges named him Trial Judge of the Year.
Judge Frank was appointed a federal district judge for the District of Minnesota in 1998 by President Bill Clinton. Judge Frank assumed senior status on the federal bench in October 2016, and continues to carry a full caseload, including presiding over the Stryker Rejuvenate and ABG Hip Implant Products Liability Litigation
He currently serves on the Board of Directors for Lawyers Concerned for Lawyers and on the Board of Trustees for the Mitchell│Hamline School of Law. He also is active in the Minnesota Chapter of the Federal Bar Association and works with the Disability Justice Foundation.
A portrait of Federal Judge Donovan Frank will be installed at the St. Louis County Courthouse in Virginia this Friday.
