Incident Summary:
On September 11th, 2018 at 11:45 PM, a St. Louis County Patrol Sergeant was patrolling Industrial Township on Hwy 8. The Sergeant noticed a vehicle traveling in his direction, on his side of the road. The vehicle failed to correct lanes and ran a stop sign as well. The Sergeant stopped his patrol vehicle and began reversing to attempt to avoid a collision. Despite evasive maneuvers and activating his emergency lights the Patrol Sergeant was hit head on by Joyal. Fortunately both the Sergeant and Joyal were uninjured in the incident and damage to both vehicles was light.
The preliminary investigation shows that Joyal's action were possibly intentional, and that Joyal was highly intoxicated. Joyal was arrested and booked into the St. Louis County Jail for DWI.
