Incident Summary:

On September 3rd, 2018 at approximately 3:50 P.M., the Ely Police Department, St. Louis County Sheriff's Office, and the St. Louis County Sheriff's Rescue Squad responded to Miners Lake in Ely on a report of an 18 year old male who had been swimming and disappeared under the water.  The male had been swimming with a group of friends near the boat landing on the North side of the lake.   The male was located submerged approximately 20 minutes later by the Rescue Squad and pulled to shore where life saving measures were started.   The male was transported by the Ely ambulance to the Ely Bloomenson Community Hospital, and despite continued life saving efforts the male was declared deceased.  The incident remains under investigation by the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office.  The male's name will be released after family notifications have been made.
