Incident Summary:
On 8/30/2018, at approximately 11:18 AM the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office received a report of an accidental firearms related shooting that occurred at a private residence in Balkan Township.
An adult female called 9-1-1 reporting she had been out in the front yard at the residence showing a revolver (pistol) to a male friend. She stated while handling the revolver it discharged striking the male in the upper right thigh. The male suffered non-life threatening injuries and was transported to Fairview Range Medical Center in Hibbing by the Chisholm Ambulance Service. The incident remains under investigation by the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office.
The victim's identity is being withheld at this time pending family notifications and will be released on 8/31/18.
