Incident Summary:
On August 24, 2018, formal charges were filed in St. Louis County Court charging Thomas Bennett and Wendy Flannigan of Forbes, MN with various crimes as a result of investigations conducted by the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office.
During June 2018, property owners in Toivola, Ness and Van Buren townships reported burglaries of their properties to the Sheriff's Office. Several items of property were reported stolen during these burglaries, some of which was recovered through search warrants executed by Sheriff's Deputies.
Thomas Bennett has been formally charged with (5) felony counts including: 2nd Degree Burglary, Attempted Burglary in the 2nd Degree, 3rd Degree Burglary, two counts Possession of Burglary/Theft Tools and one Misdemeanor count of 4th Degree Criminal Damage to Property. Bennett's first court appearance is set for Sept. 19th, 2018 at the St. Louis County District Courthouse in Duluth, MN.
Wendy Flannigan has been formally charged with (2) felony counts including: Aid & Abet Burglary in the 2nd Degree and Aid & Abet Burglary in the 3rd Degree. Flannigan's first court appearance is set for Sept. 13th, 2018 at the St. Louis County District Courthouse in Duluth, MN.
The Sheriff's Office would like to remind citizens to take precautions to safeguard their property/valuables and contact 9-1-1 immediately if they notice any suspicious activity in their neighborhoods.
