Incident Summary:
On 07/28/2018 at around 1643 hrs. St. Louis County Dispatch
received a 911 report of a garage on fire at 4932 Swanstrom Road in Grand Lake
Township. The 911 caller, a resident/property owner, reported the garage had
been struck by lightning and there were visible open flames.
A deputy arrived on scene around 1652 hrs. and found visible flames in the garage. The fire
quickly accelerated and the garage became fully engulfed.
Fire department resources arrived shortly thereafter and
suppressed the fire. The garage was a total loss; the nearby house was not
damaged. No persons were injured.
Responding agencies included the Grand Lake Fire Department,
Industrial Fire Department, Solway Fire Department, and the St. Louis County
Sheriff’s Office.
