Sheriff's Office teams with three townships for National Night Out party
St. Louis County Sheriff’s Deputies along with representatives of Cherry, Clinton and McDavitt Townships are coming together to host NATIONAL NIGHT OUT. The community celebration will be Tuesday August 7, from 4:30-8 p.m.at the Clinton Community Center, 8907 Highway 37 in Iron. The event is free to the public and all are invited to attend.
National Night Out is an annual celebration on the first Tuesday in August held by neighborhoods across the country. The event strives to promote community and strengthen relationships between citizens and the public safety departments in their area.
The event in Clinton Township will feature St. Louis County deputies and squad cars, a K-9 team, and volunteers from the St. Louis County Sheriff's Rescue Squad. Weather and schedule permitting, a Life Link III helicopter will land, plus local EMS and other agencies will provide demonstrations. The festivities also will include a free community meal of hamburgers, brats, and hot dogs, plus ice cream. There will be a bounce house for kids, prize drawings for youth and adults, music by Jimmy’s Jukebox, magic by Amazing Charles, and more.
Meanwhile, neighbors in Cotton Township will be gathering for their second annual NATIONAL NIGHT OUT celebration that same night. Their party will be held from 5-7 p.m. at the Cotton Community Center, 9087 U.S. Highway 53 in Cotton. The Sheriff's Office focused their help on the Cotton community last year, and hopes to get more communities involved each year.
