Incident Summary: The St. Louis County Sheriff's Office is attempting to locate a male suspect in a homicide that happened sometime during the week of June 11, 2018, in Beatty Township near the city of Cook. 

On June 26, 2018, Investigators from the St. Joseph County (Indiana) Sheriff's Department requested assistance from the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office with a missing person investigation involving Christina Marie Woods, 28, of South Bend, Indiana.  Woods had been reported missing to the St. Joseph County Sheriff's Department in early June and Indiana investigators believed she had traveled to Minnesota. 

St. Louis County Sheriff's investigators on Monday, July 2, located Ms. Woods' remains in a shallow grave on a property in Beatty Township.  The Midwest Medical Examiner's Office' preliminary autopsy indicates she died of homicidal violence. 

Investigators are seeking Daniel Gregory Lynn, 40, of South Bend, Indiana in connection with Woods homicide.  Mr. Lynn is 5'10, 210 lbs., and is bald with a mustache and goatee and tattoos on both sides of his neck.  A warrant was issued in St. Louis County seeking his arrest on July 3.  The property where Woods was located belongs to a family member of Mr. Lynn. 

Mr. Lynn was seen in the Duluth and Virginia/Mt. Iron areas in the days after the homicide took place.  He is believed to have returned to Indiana, but may still be in Minnesota or gone elsewhere.  Anyone who has seen Daniel Lynn or who has information on his whereabouts is urged to contact the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office Communications Center at 218-742-9825. 

The investigation is active and ongoing and as a result no additional information is available at this time.  Assisting Agencies:  Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, St. Joseph County (Indiana) Sheriff's Department, St. Louis County Volunteer Rescue Squad and Midwest Medical Examiner's Office.

Additional Information or Update:

Daniel Lynn was located and taken into custody without incident today, July 13th, in Cass Co. (Michigan) by members of the U.S. Marshals Service and Michigan State Police.  He is being held in Michigan's custody pending extradition back to St. Louis Co. Minnesota to face homicide charges. 

The St. Louis Co. Sheriff's Office would like to extend our gratitude to members of the public for their assistance during this investigation.
