St. Louis County hires Dusty Letica as Financial Assistance Division Director
St. Louis County has hired Dusty Letica as the new Financial Assistance Division Director for Public Health and Human Services. Letica oversees a staff of 180 working out of offices in Duluth, Hibbing, Virginia and Ely.
Letica, of Duluth, previously worked in St. Louis County's Financial Assistance Division in various roles for nearly 10 years. Most recently he worked for Carlton County Public Health and Human Services. He has a Master's Degree in Business Administration from The College of St. Scholastica.
"Dusty has proven his commitment to this work and leads his team through the mission to provide accurate, timely eligibility determinations with good customer service,” said Linnea Mirsch, director of Public Health and Human Services
Letica replaces Debbie Waldriff who retired earlier this year.
The Financial Assistance Division is responsible for determining which federal and state assistance programs a person may be eligible to receive following the strict guidelines of the Minnesota Department of Human Services. These assistance programs - which are designed and mandated by the state and federal government and administered by the county - include medical assistance, food and housing support, child support and cash assistance programs. The Financial Assistance Division also plays a significant role in temporary economic supports to individuals and families by providing Medical Assistance (Medicaid) healthcare to low-income individuals.
