Civic Center Farmers' Market opens June 21

A new opportunity to access fresh produce and other homemade treats is coming to downtown Duluth, organized by St. Louis County. The Civic Center Farmers' Market opens this Thursday, June 21, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in front of the St. Louis County Courthouse in Duluth. It is open to the public and will continue every Thursday until September 27.

The Civic Center Farmers' Market will feature fresh produce, home baked goods, meats, jams, syrups and more. A team of St. Louis County employees organized the farmers' market with three goals in mind: to bring healthy foods to an area that does not have easy access to fresh produce, to give employees a chance to sell their garden produce, and to provide a festive atmosphere for all of the people who work in the area.

In addition to the booths, the Civic Center Farmers' Market will feature local musicians, plus lunch opportunities from The Rambler Mobile Food Truck and India Palace. Also, St. Louis County staff from several departments will provide a variety of health and wellness outreach materials throughout the summer. Extension Service and Master Gardeners will talk about programs they offer and answer gardening questions. St. Louis County Public Health nurses and educators will offer information on nutrition and other public health programs.

Priley Drive, which provides access to Duluth City Hall, the St. Louis County Courthouse and the Federal Courthouse, will remain open to traffic during the Farmers' Market, however parking in front of the St. Louis County Courthouse will be limited. Additional parking is available in the Civic Center Public Ramp - the first hour is free - at 410 West 1st Street. Metered parking is also available on 1st Street, and in the ramp off of 3rd Street, which connects to the county courthouse by skywalk.

The Civic Center Farmers' Market is presented by St. Louis County, with additional support from the City of Duluth and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota.
