Incident Summary:
On June 9, 2018, at approx. 4:41 AM, the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office received a report of a semi truck rolled over on the Parkville Rd. in the City of Mt. Iron.
Squads responded to the area and located an Edwards Oil Semi/tanker in the ditch rolled over onto its side. The tanker was loaded with approximately 7,400 gallons of # 2 diesel fuel. No diesel fuel leaked from the tanker, however the Mt. Iron Fire Dept. was summoned and remained on scene for precautionary measures until the diesel fuel from the overturned tanker could be transferred to a second tanker. The area of the accident was secured as the diesel fuel was off loaded from the overturned tanker, at which time it was then up righted and towed from the scene. The scene was cleared at approximately 9:00 AM.
The semi driver, Joseph Mickle, was not injured. The incident remains under investigation by the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office. The exact amount of damage to the semi/tanker is unknown at this time.
