Highway 5 bridge over Bear River to close for three weeks for final project phase

The final phase of construction has resumed on the new bridge on County State Aid Highway 5 over the Bear River. The new bridge was installed and opened late last fall, but finishing touches - including final paving, striping and shoulder work - needed to wait until spring.

The bridge is expected to be closed through June 20. Detour signs are in place directing motorists to use the Airport Road and Highway 22 as the alternative route.

The bridge is part of a major improvement to Highway 5 in the Linden Grove area. The new bridge is 302 feet long  significantly longer than the previous, 83-year-old structure - making it safer while also addressing the unstable soils that are prevalent in the area.
