Incident Summary:

On May 29th the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office received a call of a possible water emergency near the above location on Lake Vermilion. The reporting party had contacted 911 and stated they had witnessed what they believed to be a small fishing boat occupied with 3-4 parties capsize.  A storm had come in and winds had picked up significantly making it difficult to navigate on the water. Several emergency crews were dispatched to the scene along with the Sheriff's office and Rescue Squad and a search was conducted of the area where the boat had been witnessed by the reporting party. After several hours of searching the area with side scan sonar and an extensive shoreline and water search of the area in question, the search was unfounded. No parties, watercraft, or debris were located. No parties were reported to be overdue or missing on Lake Vermilion at this time.
