House Homeland Security Committee Chair Michael McCaul to meet Wednesday with local leaders

Representative Michael McCaul, who chairs the House Homeland Security Committee, is coming to St. Louis County on Wednesday, May 29, to meet with local, state and federal public safety and emergency management representatives. A round table discussion will take place at the Public Safety Building, 2030 North Arlington Avenue. The discussion is a closed session, however, media will be able to interview McCaul and other participants immediately following at 10 a.m.

This will be McCaul's first visit to a Great Lakes port since assuming the chairmanship of the House Committee on Homeland Security. The meeting was arranged by St. Louis County Commissioner Pete Stauber.

"This is a great opportunity for the Representative to see first hand and for the first time a Great Lakes Port and to hear the unique challenges we face from a public safety and commerce perspective," said Stauber, who also serves on the Duluth Seaway Port Authority Board.

Representatives from the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office, Duluth Police and Fire Departments, Seaway Port Authority, Coast Guard and U.S. Border Patrol are among those invited to participate in the discussion.
