Incident Summary: On 10 May 2018, at approximately 1500 hours, St. Louis County Sheriff's Deputies were dispatched to a three car accident near the intersection of Lavaque Bypass and Lavaque Road. Upon arrival, Deputies found three vehicles involved and several witnesses to the accident. It was determined that a truck was traveling north on Lavaque Bypass and about to turn east onto the Lavaque Road, a small SUV was behind the truck and slowed down while the truck executed its turn. During this time, the third vehicle, also northbound on Lavaque Road, rear ended the small SUV sending it off the road and into the woods. The striking vehicle then hit the rear of the pickup truck that was turning. The 2 juvenile occupants of the SUV were transported to St. Lukes Hospital by Gold Cross Ambulance with non life threatening injuries. They are expected to be treated and released. The driver of the striking vehicle suffered minor injuries believed to be caused by seatbelt and airbag deployment. Distracted driving is believed to be the contributing factor in the accident. The St. Louis County Sheriff's Office would like to remind the public to pay full attention to your surroundings while operating a motor vehicle.
