Incident Summary:
On May 2nd 2018, at approximately 1647 hours, St. Louis County Deputies responded to a report of a single vehicle accident in the 3400 block of West Tischer Road, just East of Jean Duluth Road, in Lakewood Township.
The vehicle was driven by a 76 year old Duluth man, identified as Frank Zatocil. Zatocil was traveling east on West Tischer Road, when he left the roadway on the south side of the road eventually striking a downed tree. First responders that arrived on the scene administered life saving efforts to Zatocil but were unsuccessful in their efforts. Zatocil was deceased.
Alcohol containers were present at the scene but at this time it is unknown if Zatocil suffered a medical emergency causing the crash or if alcohol was a contributing factor. The incident remains under investigation by the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office.
