Incident Summary: 

On February 23rd, 2018 at approximately 1:24 P.M. the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office responded to the Vermilion River Tavern in Buyck, Mn. on a report of a snowmobile accident with injuries that had occurred approximately 3 miles away on the Vermilion River.   Kurt Kennedy was operating his snowmobile on the Vermilion River when he struck a snow covered rock and was thrown from his machine.  Kennedy was transported by members of his snowmobile party to the Vermilion River Tavern at which time North Memorial air medical transported Kennedy to the Essentia Health-St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth with Non-Life threatening injuries.
