Incident Summary:
On 16 January 2018, at approximately 1500 hours, St. Louis County Deputies and multiple surrounding fire departments responded to a report of a structure fire located at 5555 Bergstrom Junction Road in Grand Lake Township. A neighboring resident noticed the flames as he was driving by and called 911 to report the fire. The reporting party attempted to break a window, as he could hear a dog barking from inside, but had to back away due to the extreme heat from the fire.
Upon arrival, Deputies found the home to be fully engulfed in flames. Deputies verified with the home owners by phone that no one was home, other than two dogs within the residence. It is believed the two dogs perished in the fire as they were not located.
The home sustained extensive damage and is a total loss. The incident remains under investigation by the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office and the State Fire Marshal's Office.
