Incident Summary:

At approximately 0635 hours this morning, St. Louis County Sheriff's Deputies were dispatched to a report of a structure fire at 5334 Old Hwy 61 in Midway Township.  The fire was called in by a passerby who called 911 and also stopped to make sure no one was in the residence.  Responding squads received information that the house may have been recently purchased and learned it was unoccupied and was being remodeled.  Responding fire crews ensured there were no occupants and were able to extinguish the fire.  The home sustained significant damage but the damage was contained to the garage and attic crawl space.  The home was heated with a wood stove during the remodeling project and it is believed this is the origin of the fire.  There were no injuries reported.  The incident remains under investigation by the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office.
