Incident Summary: On December 17, 2017, at approximately 6:42 AM, the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office responded to a snowmobile accident that occurred at the intersection of Lost River Rd. and Ash Lake Camp Rd. approximately 7 miles Northwest of Orr, MN. Upon our arrival, it was determined that a single snowmobile with two occupants had struck a forestry road gate. An 18 year old female despite life-saving efforts died at the scene. A 21 year old male was injured and was transported to the Cook Hospital by Virginia ambulance and later transferred to a Duluth hospital with unknown extent of injuries. The accident is under investigation as to determine the cause of the accident and to confirm who was operating/driving the snowmobile. The identity of the occupants is being withheld pending notification of family members.

**UPDATE** Press released updated listing identities of snowmobile occupants. KISHEL was female who died at the scene. GIESE was male who sustained injuries and was transferred to a Duluth hospital. Incident remains under investigation by the Sheriff's Office. **
