Incident Summary:

The St. Louis County Sheriff's Office responded to the report of a truck going through the ice on Grand Lake. It was reported that the two occupants of the vehicle were able to get out of the truck before it went under the water. Warga and Campbell were on the lake to go fishing, and had checked the ice depth near the boat landing where they got onto the lake. They reported the depth to be 10 inches there, but where their vehicle went through there was approximately 3 inches of ice.

After multiple incidents of motor vehicles going through the ice, the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office would like to remind the public that ice conditions in our area are extremely unpredictable. Fluctuations in temperature have not allowed for uniform ice formation and many area lakes are still unsafe for trucks, cars and even recreational vehicles.
