St. Louis County issues statement on appointment of Tina Smith as senator

Following the announcement of the appointment of Tina Smith as senator, St. Louis County Board Chair Frank Jewell stated the following:

"We wish to congratulate Tina Smith as she prepares to serve as Minnesota’s next senator. As Lieutenant Governor, Tina Smith has been a great advocate for issues important to St. Louis County, such as finding solutions to the opioid epidemic, and fighting to keep funding for the Indian Child Welfare Act in this year’s Tax Bill. She has consistently shown an interest in our region, traveling here for meetings and joining us in St. Paul during Duluth and St. Louis County at the Capitol Days. We are confident she will continue to serve our citizens well as senator, and St. Louis County is excited to continue to work with her in her new role."
