Incident Summary:

On 12-11-17 at approximately 5:00 P.M. the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office received a report of a semi truck pulling a trailer that had been struck by a train, 1/4 mile West of Hwy 7 on Arkola Rd. in Kelsey Twp.

The driver, Gerald Wick, was traveling eastbound on Arkola Rd. and was unable to stop for the southbound Burlington Northern Santa Fe train, due to slippery road conditions. Wick tried to make it across the uncontrolled train crossing in front of the train, but was unsuccessful. Wick was not injured in the crash, but both the train and the low boy style trailer were heavily damaged in the crash.

The Sheriff's Office would like to remind the public that with the winter driving season upon us, to make sure and reduce your speeds and drive appropriately for the road conditions.
