Incident Summary:
The St. Louis County Sheriff's Office is investigating the death of a woman found in her home last week as a homicide. The Midwest Medical Examiner's Office has preliminarily identified the woman as Courtney Lee Fenske, of 11072 S. Townline Rd. in Lavell Township, just Southeast of Hibbing. The preliminary autopsy report indicates Fenske died as a result of homicide.
Sheriff's Deputies discovered Fenske deceased in her home on November 29, 2017, when a conducting a welfare check at the request of a concerned citizen.
Based on information obtained during the investigation and the Medical Examiner's findings, Investigators believe Fenske died sometime between Sunday, November 26th and Monday, November 27, 2017.
No one is in custody at this time and this is very much an active investigation. The St. Louis County Sheriff's Office and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension are conducting the investigation.
Investigators are asking anyone that had recent contact with Fenske or observed anything suspicious in the area during this timeline to call the St. Louis County 911 Center at (218)742-9825.
