Signal work to affect travel on Haines Road, Mall Drive and Market Street
Work on the traffic signal at the intersection of Haines Road with Market Street and Mall Drive, will affect traffic next week. This is the intersection near Wells Fargo and Krenzen. The traffic signals at that intersection will be turned off beginning Tuesday, October 10, at 7:30 a.m. while work is done to replace signal parts and lights, as well as add features such as push buttons for pedestrians, and flashing yellow arrow functions.
Traffic on Haines Road will still be able to travel through the intersection and make left or right turns while the signals are turned off. However, traffic on Mall Drive or Market Street will be blocked from using the intersection. Traffic will be able to access businesses near this intersection from Burning Tree Road and Loberg Avenue.
The work is expected to take four days, though financial incentives are included in the contract in hopes of reducing the shut down time and the inconvenience it will cause for businesses and people who travel through this area. The signal rehabilitation project is done in cooperation between St. Louis County Public Works, and the cities of Hermantown and Duluth. The work coincides with the City of Hermantown's project to reconstruct Market Street.
