Segment of Haines Road to close temporarily beginning September 21

Haines Road will be closed between Arrowhead Road and Highway 53 beginning Thursday, September 21, due to construction and work on the traffic signal at the intersection of Haines and Arrowhead Roads. The work includes wiring and installation of new signals and street lights.

The closure is expected to last two weeks, though Public Works is offering a financial bonus to the contractor if they can finish the work and re-open the road sooner than that, in recognition of the inconvenience this creates for both motorists and the businesses along this route.

Special directional signing will be in place to help people who are going to the airport. Additional signage will be in place to direct people to the businesses along this segment of Haines Road. Access to the businesses will still be possible from Highway 53.

Construction at the intersection and work on the traffic signal are part of a $2 million project to improve traffic flow and safety along Arrowhead Road. The full project is expected to be complete in late October.

Drivers are reminded to slow down and avoid distractions while traveling in or near work zones.
