Autism information meeting to focus on co-occurring conditions

An individual with Autism Spectrum Disorder is likely to have other diagnoses ranging from anxiety to Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) to sleep struggles. Two free public meetings will address this topic while providing practical intervention strategies to address problems related to these symptoms.

These latest outreach sessions will feature Dr. Kelsey Berg and Dr. Jessica Schilling, and are scheduled for:

Tuesday, Sept. 12, 5:30-7 p.m.

Duluth Regional Care Center (DRCC), 5629 Grand Avenue, Duluth

Tuesday, Sept. 26, 5:30-7 p.m.

Mt. Iron Community Center, 8586 Enterprise Drive South, Mt. Iron

The sessions are targeted towards parents, caregivers and teachers of children affected by autism, as well as providers, and will include discussion on the roles of various specialty providers, and local resources that can provide assistance.

The meetings are offered by St. Louis County Public Health and Human Services, thanks to a grant from the Minnesota Department of Human Services.

A light dinner is included with the presentation. Supported activities for children will be provided.

The information sessions are made possible through a grant from the Minnesota Department of Human Services. To learn more or to register for one of the sessions, contact Laura Birnbaum, St. Louis County Social Worker, at (218) 726-2492 or birnbauml@stlouiscountymn.gov.
