Clean Water Council to Meet in Duluth, August 27-28, 2017

The Clean Water Council will hold its monthly meeting and annual field tour on Sunday, August 27 and Monday, August 28, 2017 in Duluth and the Two Harbors area. Agendas for both days are linked here.

At the Sunday meeting, the Council will hear a presentation from Dr. Robert Sterner: Lake Superior as a Climate-Stressed Ecosystem, and then tour the Area of Concern in the St. Louis Estuary.

On Monday, August 28, Council members will participate in a field excursion to tour areas along the shore between Duluth and Two Harbors. These will include bank stabilization along the Knife River, Bob’s Cabins on Old North Shore Road, and Clover Family Farms. Each of the projects received funding from Clean Water Legacy Funding.

The Clean Water Council was created through the Clean Water Legacy Act which was signed into law June 2, 2006. The Council’s role is to advise on the administration and implementation of the Clean Water Legacy Act. The Council’s FY18-19 Clean Water Fund and Policy Recommendations Report (December 1, 2016) provides additional detail as to the Council’s work and recommendations.
