Bridge replacement to temporarily close portion of Comstock Lake Road

A portion of Comstock Lake Road, officially known as Unorganized Township Road 9230, will be closed to traffic beginning August 21, as crews work to replace an aging bridge. A new concrete box culvert will be installed in place of the bridge, which crosses Coolidge Creek, approximately 12 miles east of Cotton.

The cost of the new culvert is $389,000. It will replace a steel beam span bridge built in 1969, which has reached the end of its serviceable life.

Ulland Bros. is the contractor on the project. Work is expected to be complete and the road re-opened by the end of September.

Motorists are advised to seek an alternate route, and to always use caution when traveling in or near a construction zone.
