Intersection of 4th Street and 21st Ave East to close beginning Aug. 23
As work to rebuild 4th Street in Duluth continues to progress east, motorists and others who use 21st Avenue East will be detoured beginning August 23. The intersection is expected to be closed until late September. Signs will be in place detouring traffic to 24th Avenue East and Kent Road.
An estimated 17,000 vehicles travel on 21st Avenue East each day. Drivers should expect delays, and are reminded to slow down and remain alert for suddenly braking vehicles when traveling in and around construction zones.
The construction on 4th Street is a multi-year project. The County is rebuilding the road, while the City of Duluth is replacing the utilities beneath it.
