Incident Summary: On July 22nd, 2017 at approximately 11:16 P.M., St. Louis County 911 dispatchers took a report of a boat crash on Dinham Lake in Ellsberg Twp.
When Sheriff Deputies arrived on scene, it was learned that 4 occupants of a boat which had been traveling on the lake had struck a dock and boat lift. Multiple injuries were reported to the occupants of the boat, and one person was thrown from the boat into the water upon impact. The ejected party was rescued from the water by several witnesses on shore, and transported to Essentia St. Mary's Hospital in Duluth with life threatening injuries.
Two other occupants were transported to Essentia Virginia Regional Medical Center in Virginia with unknown injuries, and one refused medical transport.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Sheriff's Office, but it is believed that night time operation, speed, and alcohol all were factors in the crash.

Additional Information or Update: The Sheriff's Office has been informed that the injured victim, who is identified as DELANGHE, ANN MARIE (54 yrs old) of Burnsville, MN, has died from the injuries sustained in the crash. The driver of the boat is actively being investigated for criminal vehicular homicide at this time, and the investigation into the crash continues by the Sheriff's Office.
