Construction to begin next week in area of Arrowhead/Haines Roads

The area of West Arrowhead Road between U.S. Highway 53 and Haines Road is slated for significant improvements to improve traffic flow and safety along this busy street. Construction is expected to begin July 31, and last through October. The project includes:

  • A new frontage road on the south side of Arrowhead Road between the Holiday Station Store and the Menard Drive/Kolar dealership
  • A new traffic signal at the intersection of Menard Drive and Arrowhead Road
  • A new sidewalk on the north side of Arrowhead Road between U.S. Highway 53 and Menards Drive
  • The resurfacing of Arrowhead Road from U.S. Highway 53 to approximately 1,000 feet past Haines Road
  • The addition of a westbound lane between Menard Drive and Haines Road
  • Upgrades to the traffic signal at the intersection of Arrowhead and Haines Roads.

Work will initially focus on the new frontage road, so drivers should not experience major delays during the first few weeks of the project. However, when work shifts to Arrowhead road in mid- to late-August, drivers should expect significant delays and are encouraged to seek alternate routes. Haines Road will close in early September between Arrowhead Road and Highway 53 while the traffic signal at the intersection of Haines and Arrowhead is reconditioned.

The project is expected to cost $2 million, with funding coming from State Aid and Transportation Sales Tax revenue.

Drivers are reminded to slow down and avoid distractions while traveling in an near work zones.
