Incident Summary:
At approximately noon today, the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office was dispatched to a report of an ATV accident that occurred near the intersection of the French River Road and the Normanna Road in Normanna Township. Upon arrival deputies found four 15 year old females to be the occupants of a Polaris Ranger UTV. The driver was making a sharp left hand turn, which caused the UTV to overturn, landing on its side. The three occupants that were within the cab were wearing seatbelts, but one did sustain a head injury and was transported by Goldcross Ambulance to St. Lukes in Duluth for precautionary measures. The fourth occupant, was riding in the dump box of the UTV was also transported by Goldcross for a leg injury. None of the occupants were wearing helmets. The injuries sustained are believed to be NON-life threatening. The accident remains under investigation.
The Sheriff's Office would like to remind the public to wear helmets and to never carry more occupants than the recommended capacity set fourth by the manufacturer.
