Incident Summary: Lost Hikers

On June 30th, 2017 at approximately 3:30 P.M. The Saint Louis County Sheriff's Office responded to the West End of Lake Vermilion near Black bay on a report of two lost hikers.   Richard and Margaret Chamberlain had been boating on Lake Vermilion with their son Dillon Chamberlain when they stopped at the Black Bay picnic beach.  Richard and Margaret along with their two dogs went for a hike on the trail between Black Bay and Norwegian Bay and became lost.   At 4:45 P.M. A U.S. Forest Service Officer made voice contact with Richard and Margaret near the 3200 Block of Wilderness Way road (about 3/4 of a mile  away from where they started the hike).  The Officer walked into the woods and located them uninjured.  Richard and Margaret were assisted out of the woods and transported back to their son in Black Bay.
